ABOUT MUSHINKAN DOJO
Our Story
Mushinkan is a haven where individuals cultivate strength, clarity, and spirit through the disciplined art of martial practice.
Founded in 1965 by Kaiso Francis Ramasamy—an expert in Judo, Kendo, Muay Thai, and Aikido, and also the founder of Mushindo. Francis was a distinguished disciple of Soke Gozo Shioda, the founder of Yoshinkan-style Aikido. Mushinkan was born from a vision to infuse the essence of Japanese martial traditions into Malaysia and beyond.
Today, under the passionate guidance of Sensei Franky, this enduring legacy continues to flourish, inspiring and nurturing every student's journey toward holistic growth.
OUR SENSEI
Born into a martial arts family, where the dojo was Sensei Franky's home - Sensei began training at just 3 years old under the guidance of his father, Kaiso Ramasamy. Now, he has spent nearly four decades refining his craft and sharing his knowledge. Sensei’s leadership is rooted in his belief in inclusivity and his passion for helping every student realize their potential. Mushinkan continues its legacy of discipline, harmony, and mindfulness.
MUSHINKAN'S PROGRAMS:
The dojo offers three distinct disciplines:
-
Aikido (合気道): The art of harmony and fluid movement. Our style of Aikido is the Shioda-style Aikido
-
Mushinryū (無心流): A modern approach to Kenjutsu (swordsmanship) focused on precision and control.
-
Mushindō(無心道): A meditative art that cultivates mindfulness and spiritual growth.
MUSHINKAN'S PHILOSOPHY:
Mushinkan’s teachings are guided by three principles:
-
Believe: Trust in your actions to build confidence.
-
Understand: Look beyond appearances to gain insight and humility.
-
Realize: Cultivate mindfulness and gratitude by being aware of your surroundings.
Situated in the vibrant heart of Pulau Tikus, Mushinkan stands strong yet humble, fostering a close-knit and dedicated community in the northern region. Deeply committed to both tradition and service, we actively engage in cultural and charitable initiatives, including collaborations with the Penang Consulate of Japan, to honor our founder’s vision of promoting Japanese culture and discipline.
Thank you. And as always, live with love.
